The Publishers Association of New Zealand (PANZ) is the organisation that represents the publishing industry and acts as an advocate for all publishers. Since its establishment as the Book Publishers Association (BPANZ) over 30 years ago, PANZ has performed a leading role in the changes and improvements to the industry.
PANZ works alongside members to assist them with the growth of their business and to help them prepare for the challenges and opportunities that the future will offer. We believe that industry training forms an integral part of this growth and offer members opportunities to participate in numerous workshops at reduced rates. Digital initiatives are high on the agenda and we’ll continue to brief our members on how to plan for this aspect of their business.

Members who are focussing on export are able to exhibit on the collective New Zealand stand at the annual Frankfurt Book Fair and some will also be eligible to receive travel and exhibiting assistance from our funding partners. Preparatory seminars are also held prior to this fair.
Awarding excellence is also high on the priority list and PANZ manages the annual PANZ Book Design Awards and the CLL Educational Publishing Awards as well as representing publishers on the NZ Post Awards Management Committees.
PANZ is managed an Association Director and by a council of publishers elected annually.
