Pearson is the local subsidiary of Pearson Education, the largest educational publisher in the world. Pearson publishes 100–120 new titles each year, all designed for the New Zealand and export educational markets. Pearson is also active in publishing in te reo Māori. Manaaki Whenua Press is owned by Landcare Research, New Zealand’s foremost environmental research organisation. The Press publishes definitive reference works on New Zealand flora, fauna, soils and the environment, and is the New Zealand distributor for CSIRO Publishing.

Dunmore Publishing

Established in 1971, Dunmore Publishing publishes 15–20 broad-ranging non-fiction titles each year, covering areas such as health, economics, politics, society, education and history. Some are general non-fiction titles, while others are designed for the university, polytechnic and secondary school markets. Institution and local histories are also published.
